Step 1: Take an Approved Notary Class

Step 2: Pass the State Exam in the Inland Empire

After securing your Proof of Completion, you must pass the official proctored exam. CPS HR Consulting hosts testing centers across the region, including:

• Riverside: Testing is frequently held at the Riverside Convention Center.
• Palm Springs: Various hotel conference centers host exams (Check CPS HR for the current schedule).

Step 3: Clear Your Live Scan Background Check

You are required to submit your fingerprints to the DOJ and FBI. You can easily locate authorized Live Scan vendors throughout Riverside County to process your background check quickly.

Step 4: File Your Oath & Bond with the Riverside County Clerk

Once your official commission packet arrives, you have a strict 30-day deadline to file your oath of office and $15,000 surety bond. In Riverside County, this is managed by the Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder.
